Be Prepared...
- Michigan Driver’s License
- Temporary Instructional Permit- Eligibility Date is indicated on the permit
- All Documents: Must be Original – Photo Copies ARE NOT ACCEPTED
- Must have a licensed facilitator with the same CDL class, present for the entire exam
- Vehicle must have valid registration and insurance (DOT documentation encouraged)
- Cargo area(s) must be empty
Your CDL skills exam includes three required segments:
- Vehicle Inspection
- Basic Control Skills
- Public Road Driving
You must pass all three in the same test to succeed. Fail any segment, and the exam concludes.
After passing:
Your examiner will electronically submit your results to the State of Michigan the same day. The next business day, schedule an appointment with the Secretary of State to convert your license to a CDL.
- Driver Skills Test – Full: $175
- Driver Skills Test – Partial: $175
